Does Salt Damage Concrete?
Salt does not damage concrete..Chemically that is. What salt does is lower the freezing point of water and attract moisture. The affect of this is an increase in pressure of frozen water. Salt also will add additional freeze thaw cycles as the temperature changes. As in most products, the better the concrete installation, placement and quality of the concrete, the less likely the negative effects will occur. Use of a good concrete sealer can help keep water out of your concrete and aid in this. Contact us with any questions.
