At Munson, we value the long-term relationships we build with our clients, and repeat business is the highest compliment we can receive. In 2017, we had the privilege of color-coating Marquette University’s indoor tennis courts. When it came time for a full reconstruction of their indoor courts, they turned to Munson once again, trusting us to deliver top-tier craftsmanship and long-lasting quality.
Working alongside Red Wolf Trucking, Findorff, Laykold, Douglas® Sports Equipment, and HOK, we executed a complete tennis court transformation that included:

Thinking about upgrading or building new tennis courts? Let’s talk about how Munson can bring your vision to life.
We’re excited to help you! Your Munson representative will first address your needs to determine the appropriate surface material (post-tension concrete, acrylic, synthetic grass, cushion systems, clay, or hydro) and accessories, like divider nets, windscreens, and court color.Â
Next, they’ll walk through special concerns for your tennis court, such as retaining walls, drainage problems, wind factors, and lighting.Â
Then, your Munson representative will put together a design package for your court, including working drawings.Â
When it’s time to start construction of your tennis court, Munson will custom-build it from the ground up according to your design package. By excavating, paving, fencing, and finishing ourselves, Muson controls quality and oversees the project from start to finish so you only have to work with one contractor.
After your tennis court is constructed, you can count on Munson to handle normal maintenance like color coating and striping. We also offer winterizing services to prepare your court for winter.
The cost to install a tennis court depends on factors like surface materials, number of courts, and location.
For an accurate estimate based on your project, contact us for a free consultation and estimate.
The timeline for installing a tennis court depends on factors like the size of the project, weather conditions, site preparation, and the materials used. On average, it can take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks to complete a standard tennis court installation, including time for curing if you're using concrete. Custom features or additional amenities may extend the timeline slightly.

A standard tennis court measures 78 feet long by 36 feet wide (for doubles) and 27 feet wide (for singles), with a service line at 21 feet.
However, these are just the playing lines. A properly constructed tennis court facility requires a total fenced area of at least 60 feet by 120 feet to allow for player movement and boundary clearance.
Additionally, it’s important to account for extra space beyond the fenced area for construction access, drainage, and maintenance. Many courts include a buffer zone of pavement or compacted stone around the perimeter to prevent grass from growing up to the edge, reducing maintenance efforts like mowing and trimming near the playing surface.
Munson offers expert guidance on designing a court that meets both regulation standards and long-term maintenance needs. Contact us today for help planning your ideal court layout.
The best surface material depends on your needs:

To keep your tennis court in top playing condition, regular maintenance is essential. The frequency and type of maintenance depend on court surface, usage levels, and exposure to weather.
Resurfacing & Re-striping – Tennis courts should be color-coated and striped every 5 to 7 years to maintain appearance, traction, and playability. High-traffic courts or those exposed to harsh weather conditions may need resurfacing sooner.
Crack Repair & Surface Inspections – Regular inspections help identify cracks, low spots, or surface wear before they become major issues. Munson specializes in ARMOR® Crack Repair, a long-term solution for asphalt courts.
Routine Cleaning & Debris Removal – Dirt, leaves, and standing water can accelerate surface deterioration. We recommend sweeping or pressure washing your court to prevent buildup and discoloration. Please note that pressure washing needs to be done carefully to avoid peeling the surface; Munson offers pressure washing as part of expert tennis court maintenance services.
Winterizing & Seasonal Care – In late fall, removing nets, windscreen covers, and post-hole sleeves helps prevent moisture damage and premature color-coating failure. Proper winter maintenance ensures your court is ready for play in the spring.
Regular inspections and maintenance extend the lifespan of your court and reduce costly repairs. Not sure what your court needs? Contact us to schedule a professional inspection today!
Tennis courts should be recolored every 5-7 years, with regular crack repair as needed to extend surface longevity.
Membership in the American Sports Builder Association (ASBA) reflects both Munson’s commitment to excellence and the advancement of quality tennis court construction and the sports facility construction industry overall. Only an ASBA member is allowed to use the collective ASBA membership mark. Prospective consumers are encouraged to seek out only those companies upholding ASBA standards.
